Red Rock Canyon pics Continued

So, as I tackle a mountain of laundry and clean house before hub gets home from his not quite south of the border..Pharr, Pharr away journey I will continue to load pics from yesterday's Oklahoma Adventure.   We had a great day, wonder if we can repeat it.  I know the next trip we take will probably be to the Chickasaw National Recreation Area, I'm trying to go to the places that are under a 100 miles away then move on to the places I really want to see in NW Oklahoma.   I believe I will recruit my brother for Black Mesa day! I calculated that with Dairy Queen, a tank of gas, and one meal - we spent under $60.  Now, going to the movies cost that much, me going shopping well, is three to four times that amount.  So,  economically this project Oklahoma is cheaper than my other hobbies (concerts, shopping).   Plus it was a day the kids will remember and it was well worth going, even with  my initial dread of taking all three of my children out at once to somewhere new.   The fear of taking three at once is an old throwback to the days of screaming fights in the back seat and major tantrums over minor details.

Red Rock Canyon Day

What a beautiful day the last day of April was.   After a slow start this morning the kids and I made the 100 mile journey north to Red Rock Canyon in Hinton Oklahoma. We stopped for lunch in Hinton and everyone was well fed by the time we got to the State Park.  The kids were hoping for swimming they found a canyon with rocks to climb.   We hiked two trails and really had a nice afternoon.  We got home sun burnt and ready for summer.   Next Friday we are going to another park.   I think there are so many state parks and beautiful places to go in Oklahoma, that I want to see more of my own state.  The added bonus is any pictures I have of the landscape is a teaching tool for my Oklahoma History class.   I certainly enjoyed today.  I remember (and still live with that dread) of taking three kids out on my own at once.   A few years ago this would not be possible.   I remember when we were living out of state and I had three small children.   I love that they are all old enough to take places and have a nice day!
