I went to see Sting in concert this week in Dallas. It was the sixth show that I've been to.  Three Police shows and three Sting concerts.  He's by far my favorite. An influence in my life since childhood.  His music, lyrics and sophistication have fueled my desire for knowledge.  I love the strength and soothing tones of his voice.   He performed this song "Inside" which I thought was great...

Inside by Sting

I have always loved this song. I never understood it until he explained it.... he said this song is about how love can heal you, or it can destroy you.  I can see how love can destroy a person.  I can see its power, its fury, its force... the thought of not having someone you love or being hurt by those your love or its healing power.....  

This song...has been a favorite for nearly a decade... and I could feel its strength..but I could never quite understand its meaning....

I hate to tell my husband but despite his mocking I think that the lead singer of Maroon 5 is totally hot.  Totally....  Yummy.  LOL! 

 

 

Song of the Day: Russian LSD by Fiction Plane

This SONG is awesome.... I really,really like it. The lyrics are, great they almost remind me of this whole post-modern, Dahli type surrealism... I like surrealism, because occasionally realism sucks. It almost reminds me of the poetry of T.S. Eliot...  The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock.  Anyways, thats my thoughts....  how can you have deep thoughts when you're listening to TLC in the background.....  This is not available on iTunes in the USA... my British friend sent me a copy.    

 

Song of the Day: Soul Cake by Sting (Merry Christmas)

 

This is my new favorite Christmas song, its beautiful.  I love the music, oh and I love Sting.  OK now that I have a significant amount of Christmas presents purchased, I feel better about this whole holiday thing.  Now, I need to go BACK to town to buy some groceries...  and grumpy old 12 year old is telling me that my music is noisy.  I swear he's such a old man.  

Music and Memory

Its funny my friend asked me to send her some pictures from New Mexico.  When I went to New Mexico this summer I bought a CD on my way out,  Dierks Bentley "Up On The Ridge,"  I listened to it as I was driving through the wild west.  It is not traditional country, its blue grass (of course which you associate with hillbillies) but it is very "western" to me.  When I listen to it.  I love this CD it suits me.  He almost reminds me of Sting, which is a strange comparison I know.  But its so different even compared to his other CDs.  Anyways as I go back and revisit my journey to New Mexico I'm listening to Dierks.  I love banjo music, this is just such a good song. Beautiful

Song of the Day: Toy Soldiers by Martika

Funny, I haven't heard this song in a long time.  I forgot how much I like it.  I remember listening to it when I was in Junior High it was one of my favorite songs.    

Today I went with my little sister to the Doctor, her surgery was put off, because of her thyroid levels.   It was really strange when they sent her to meet with the Anesthesiologist it was in the old maternity ward of the hospital.  Where all three of my kids were born, it was just strange not seeing it with a nursery.  It made me sad.   I had the same nurses who aren't there.  Anyways, it was just weird being up in that ward.   Its funny that hospital is where my kids were born, my Grandparents died (when I was a baby).   Just... kind of bittersweet...  

But, today was the first morning this year I overslept and my kids missed the bus and I had to get ready to go with my sister.  In ten minutes.   It was crazy.

I woke up this morning and found this quote on my Facebook wall from a friend.   Wow.   

My son was on youtube watching videos about his favorite video game "Fallout" and this song came on.  This is one of those songs that I've really really liked but did not know the name or artist, since I don' t listen to radio all the time. So about a year later I finally have it.
