Song(s) of the Day: Electric Barbarella and Be My Girl Sally

Compare and contrast these two favorites of mine :-D  Duran Duran's "Electric Barbarella" and The Police "Be My Girl Sally." I have to say this is my second favorite Duran Duran song.  Of course you know Duran Duran got their name from the movie titled Barbarella.  I don't know what it says about me, being that this is a favorite song.... but....  it is quite catchy.  But as Duran Duran says on the next song off the album. "does it have to be serious?"

For anyone who doesn't care, I just reached level 200 in Mafia Wars.   Now, I will sit here proudly and gloat in my great accomplishment.   I wonder how many hours of wasted time that represents?  

Now, I'm going to bed to listen to my iPod and read... I am nearing the end of "Giants in the Earth" by Rolvaag, what I thought would be a saga of the Great Plains has turned into a journey of a woman's depression (and personal hell)  in a long, bleak winter.  Sadly, I can relate.   But, its very good, I'm on page 300 (shocked I made it so far, I'm notorious for half-read books and half-watched movies).  I also began a book on language "The Stuff of Thought"  by Dr. Steven Pinker, about how language and your choice of words affect the brain and your surroundings... semantics you know... it also has a nice section on the relation of cursing on the brain... Damn....  and it talks about what is said, and what is not said, the diplomacy of communication; which I lack at times.   

Goodnight Moon, Goodnight World....  I hope Monday is a good one! 

How to Waste Your Life: Part 1

OK, so I don't consider reading wasting your life, I feel like I should do more of that.  But, here is the first in a series of postings titled  "How to Waste Your Life"  or some of the useless things I spend my time on.  

1.  Mafia Wars on Facebook.  Now, I must admit I'm on level 113, which could improve.  But, I spend an awfully lot of time on this game.  I am an internet geek, but I've never considered myself a "gamer" that is for zitty faced teenage boys who spend too much time looking at girls and cars on the web.  Not, I, the well read, college educated, educator.  I am no gamer.  No sir.   Well, maybe just a little bit.   But, I do not have a serious addiction as I gave up virtual farming as being way too time consuming. Virtually killing people is way more fun.  I'm considering buying myself violent video games now, to help deal with the daily stresses of life.  This is my current online game. Yeah, I'll kill you...  Joy Green Eyes will..that is.  

There is a strategy to playing these stupid games, I might add.  You need to develop properties to earn income, fighting is good and energy for jobs is good.  But properties is how you keep afloat with your virtual money so you can play.  Oh, addiction, Cuba, Russia, New York, and Bangkok. I still feel insignificant compared to other players, but, still.   I'm not doing too bad.
